A Palette of Amber & Rust
Vancouver’s autumn unveils its colours in a tender embrace. Maples along quiet streets shedding amber and rust leaves in a golden cascade. Japanese maples ignite in crimson and ochre, their slender branches dancing in the breeze, while oaks deepen into rich reds and ginkgos scatter yellow leaves that shimmer on mossy paths. Evergreens stand resolute, their needles weaving a verdant frame around the soft mauve of late-season plums nestled in Stanley Park’s woodland hollows.
The season’s harvest paints a rustic tableau. Apples, from red-gold Galas to russet heirlooms, carry the lingering warmth of late orchards. Beets emerge in deep ruby and soft pink, their earthy forms grounding the palette in quiet strength. Parsnips, smooth and pale, rest beside pumpkins in gentle oranges tones, their vines trailing whispers of soil. Cranberries, gathered from nearby bogs, add a scarlet spark, while pears gleam with tawny skins, each one a note in autumn’s slow, warm melody.
In ochre’s blush and ruby’s gleam,
Feuilles d’automne tissent un rêve d’amant,
Soft shades entwine where hearts repose,
A season’s charm in quiet close.
